Milton J. Boackle is an experienced educator, musician and leader. He is an accomplished violinist, clarinetist and vocal-ist who has been a member of bands at the elementary/middle school, high school, collegiate and professional levels. He possesses undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Education from Loyola University as well as over 30 additional hours of instruction at Vandercook Col-lege, Tulane University and Nichols State University.
Milton had a very successful 36-year career as an educator in St. Bernard Parish Public Schools. He taught instrumentals and vocals to students in grades 3-12, served as a principal at the elementary school and middle school levels, and finished up as the school system’s supervisor of buildings and grounds. He was also instrumental in opening the first special education class and head start class for the school system.
Milton also served his country while busy educating young minds and maintaining his skills as a musician. He served twenty years as a soldier in both the active duty U.S. Army and Army Reserve; rising in the ranks from private to sergeant first class, to warrant officer three, to commissioned officer (major). Nine of those years were spent as the Commander of the 156th Army Band. He also led in the community as a member of the St. Bernard Parish Fire Civil Service Board and Water and Sewage Board.
Milton is the father of Anthony (Emily and Allyson) and Abraham (Beth, Andrew and Alaina) and proud grandfather of a rising 5th Grade student at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. He is a member of the School Finance Committee and a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
